Open Coated Coil Spring Medium Light 18 cm - Inner Diameter 0.010

These Open Coil Springs gently and efficiently open and maintain space. Available in a convenient cut-to-length design made from durable nickel-titanium material.

Open coil springs are active orthodontic helical wire devices placed over an archwire between brackets to create space, upright teeth, or distalize molars. Made commonly of Nickel-Titanium (NiTi) for consistent, gentle pressure, they are compressed upon insertion, pushing adjacent teeth apart to resolve crowding

Function: Primarily used to open space for crowded or impacted teeth (e.g., canine substitution) and to distalize molars

Mechanism: When compressed between two brackets, the coil springs exert a continuous force to regain their original length, pushing the teeth apart.

Material: Usually NiTi (Nickel-Titanium), which offers a low-load, consistent force, or Stainless Steel (SS).

Placement: Inserted over the archwire, they are usually cut to be

longer than the space between brackets to ensure activation.
